Letter To: Members of Glengarriff GAA Club
From: Nollaig O'Muirthille - Cathaoirleach CLG An Gleann Garbh
(Noel Hurley - Chairperson Glengarriff GAA)
A few short weeks ago, the position of Vice-Chairperson in our Club became vacant, when Gene O'Sullivan stepped down after many years. I accepted the position after being proposed and seconded by members who attended the AGM. I did not anticipate that i would be getting a promotion so soon!
I was very disappointed with the resignation of Gerard Galvin, who like myself, has been involved with this Club since its foundation in 1981 and who i always supported. My career in the Club began as an underage player and since then I have been a committed Club Man.
I take my new role as Chairman very seriously and with the help of the other experienced Committee members and all of the Club Members, I will endeavour to work hard on the Club's behalf, whilst being aware that there is no "I" in "Team" and that I am only one cog in Club Wheel.
Whilst winning is an integral part of any GAA Club, participation of all; Supporters, Mentors, Members and Players, regardless of ability, is at the core of any small Club like ours. Our Club has three decades of community involvement and 2011 is an historic year as we celebrate our 30th Anniversary. While we can be proud of our history, it is important not to dwell on the past and it is incumbent on all of us to concentrate on the present and work together towards a bright future.
I wish all in our Club a good year and look forward to a successful and productive 2011!
Is mise, le meas,
Cathaoirleach CLG An Gleann Garbh
Chairperson Glengarriff GAA Club 2011
