It was a mixed week for Glengarriff on the field of play as the U-14 team bowed out of the county championship as a result of a five point loss to Muintir Bhaire at semi-final stage. The opposition led by four points at half time, 2-7 to 1-6, and withstood a second half fight back to end winners on a final score of 3-11 to 3-6. During that fightback the Glen narrowed the difference to a single point with nine minutes remaining, however a late goal and point secured the final place for Muintir Bhaire.
The U-12’s had two outings over the past week, winning at home to Muintir Bhaire and making a successful trip to Drimoleague where they were entertained by Clann na Gael. Having won three games on the trot they have now qualified for the competition final.
The Beara minor team were defeated by Kilta Og in the county championship on a score of 5-6 to 3-5. Despite being beaten on five occasions Daniel Murphy had an outstanding game in goals pulling off a string of fine stops, Jack Hurley had a difficult task at corner back as his opponent had a roving commission while Ciaran McElhinney and Conor Galvin were included amongst the forwards.
